"Shortest route to a title"
Two and a half weeks have passed since the VfL ladies were last involved in match action, but now the heat is really about to be turned up: Within the space of nine days, Ralf Kellermann’s side will be in action in all three competitions. Before next week’s Champions League clash with Olympique Lyon, the Green-Whites face a double-header with FC Bayern Munich – first in the DFB-Cup and then in the league. This vital phase of the season will basically set the stage for how successful the remainder of the season can be. "It’s all bundled together now, but we have absolutely no complaints," stated Kellermann, adding: "On the contrary: We are all really looking forward to these games."
Initially, only the cup counts! In the quarter-final clash on Wednesday, March 15th (kick-off 19:00 CET), at the 'Stadion an der Grünwalder Straße' the VfL ladies will be looking to maintain several runs. Almost routinely, the Green-Whites are again in a good position in all competitions this spring – particularly in the cup, where the Wolves are unbeaten since November 2013 (!). Having won each of their last nine outings, the international break was ill-timed for the Green-Whites. "We would like to have continued playing, that’s true," admitted Kellermann, whose team – current back-to-back DFB-Cup title holders – don’t have the feeling of having been stopped in their tracks. "We are in good form and are very eager to progress through to the semi-finals again," insisted the head-coach, going on to underline the significance of the competition for his team and himself: "The DFB-Cup is and remains the shortest route to a title."
